Female Festival of Football
The Gippsland region is gearing up for an action-packed Sunday with the Gippsland Gather Round – Female Festival of Footy to be hosted at Morwell Recreation Reserve this Sunday 5 May.
Gippsland Gather Round will feature 10 back-to-back games of Youth Girls and Women’s football, alongside a host of other female-oriented football and umpiring activities to encourage participation for women and girls in the Gippsland region. Five of the games will be live streamed with commentary on https://www.youtube.com/@aflgippslandyoutube, with full fixtures and results available on PlayHQ.
There will be an all-girls Come and Play Clinic for newcomers aged 5 – 12 years to give footy a try, alongside a Confident Clubbies club umpire training session and an all-female umpiring panel showcasing their skills on the big day.
Gippsland Power Football Club and Latrobe Leisure will conduct professional athlete development sessions for all participants on the day, along with some exciting announcements including the six successful applicants for the Gippsland Lead Your Way program and the 11 successful applicants for the Female Coaching Academy program.
There will be something for the whole family with food trucks, a BBQ and trade shows set up throughout the day to supplement the on-field action.
