Participants in the 2026 Gippsland Coaching Academy were provided with a unique behind-the-scenes experience on Sunday 23rd August as part of Masterclass 3, hosted by the Gippsland Power ahead of their Talent League clash against the Northern Knights.
The session gave developing coaches an exclusive look inside one of the state’s leading talent pathway programs, with attendees gaining access rarely available outside the club’s coaching group.
The group was welcomed into the Gippsland Power environment and observed key elements of the pre-game process, including team meetings, player preparation and the pre-match address. Coaches also witnessed a special moment for the club, seeing Kye Bannister presented with his Gippsland Power jumper ahead of making his debut.
Following the pre-game preparations, coaches had the opportunity to sit in the coaches’ box during the match, providing valuable insight into communication, decision-making, game-day roles and the strategies used at an elite junior football level.
The experience highlighted the importance of learning through observation and gave participants a practical understanding of how coaching principles discussed throughout the Gippsland Coaching Academy are implemented in a high-performance environment.
