On the back of the Victorian Government’s latest Country Football & Netball Program announcement, our region will see important upgrades – including oval LED lighting at Woodside Recreation Reserve and Leongatha Recreation Reserve, Main Oval AFL Victoria and AFL Gippsland has launched the AFL Gippsland Regional Football & Netball Facilities Strategy. The Strategy is a 10-year framework shaped with input from Gippsland councils, AFL Gippsland, Netball Victoria and leagues across the region. The Strategy sets clear goals to guide future planning, development and sustainability of our facilities:
AFL Gippsland has unveiled its Regional Football and Netball Facilities Strategy 2025-2035, a new 10-year plan to address significant challenges and enhance sporting infrastructure across the region. The strategy, developed in partnership with Netball Victoria and local governments, aims to create a sustainable future for football and netball.
The strategy is guided by three main goals:
AFL Gippsland Regional Manager Tim Cotter emphasized the collaborative nature of the plan, stating that “by working together—clubs, associations, local government, and the broader community—we can ensure that these beloved sports continue to thrive for generations to come”.
