Gippsland Power: A Breeding Ground for Future AFL Stars

The Gippsland Power Football Club, competing in the Coates Talent League, has recently celebrated a remarkable success in player recruitment. This success underscores the club’s dedication to nurturing young athletes and providing them with the skills and opportunities to excel at the highest level. Headquartered at the AFL Centre of Excellence in Morwell, the Power program provides a talent pathway for Gippsland footballers with an Under 16s and Under 18s program for both boys and girls.

Telstra Footy County Grants Open for Applications

The Telstra Footy County Grants are now open for applications providing opportunities for football clubs in Gippsland to apply for grants to support their club. In 2024 a total of $70,449 was shared by 37 clubs in Gippsland.

New Youth Girls Age Groups for 2025

Following the successful Female Football Forum held in Morwell on 24th June and extensive feedback from our stakeholders, AFL Gippsland is excited to announce significant enhancements to the youth girls' football pathway in the region. We acknowledge the needs and aspirations of our community and are thrilled to introduce two new age groups for girls, enhancing participation opportunities for young female athletes.

After an extensive review process, we have now finalised The Management of Sport-Related Concussion in Australian Football (March 2024) (AFL Community Concussion Guidelines).

CCSP Information Sessions

AFL Gippsland are running two club assistance sessions for all Gippsland Clubs to participate in on Tuesday 12th and Wednesday 13th March from 6:30pm – 8:00pm. The aim of the sessions is to provide an opportunity for Gippsland club volunteers to have an introduction or refresh for 2024 on the Community Club Sustainability Program (CCSP).

The 2024 refresh of AFL’s Preferred Facility Guidelines (PFG) is now available and replaces the 2019 AFL Preferred Facility Guidelines.

AFL Gippsland CCSP By-Laws

AFL Gippsland have received approval from the AFL Victoria Community Club Sustainability Policy (CCSP) Advisory Panel for region specific By Laws to take effect for the 2024 season. The By Laws are designed to provide clarity to player pathways across all Gippsland Leagues with an avenue for all Senior Clubs to now have access to “home” 1-point players, whilst recognising the principals of the policy which encourages player retention and development.

Female Football Gippsland

On Sunday 22nd October AFL Gippsland hosted a Female Football Forum with around 30 participants joining us from across most existing teams in the youth girls and womens competition and several potential new team representatives.
