AFL Umpire School Academy

AFL Gippsland are working with local schools and umpiring associations to bring to life AFL Umpire school-based umpire academies in Gippsland in Term 1 next year. The program will provide students at selected schools with the opportunity to engage in on-campus after school hours umpire training from local association coaches. The program is conducted over 6-8 weeks targeting Years 8-12 students and will cover all three disciplines. It is hoped that the students will then transfer into umpiring local football to alleviate some shortfalls that currently exist.
